The Chilean Ministry of Health reported 1,263 new cases of COVID-19 in a 24-hour period this Tuesday, increasing the tentative balance of infected people since the pandemic began in this South American country.
Of the total number of cases, 397,730 are considered recovered patients and 16,129 are in the active phase. In addition, 11,682 people have lost their lives in Chile as a result of COVID-19, about thirty more than those announced by the government on Monday.
According to the Ministry of Health, Chilean hospitals admit 930 patients to intensive care units, including 113 in critical condition.
Chile, the eleventh country in the world with the highest number of cases of coronavirus, faces restrictions on the national holidays on the weekend of September 18-20, for which the government has promoted the “Fondéate en tu casa” plan with the aim of avoiding it the usual concentrations on these dates.
