Chilean Health Minister Enrique Paris reported this Monday that the country has exceeded 375,000 cases of coronavirus since the pandemic began, after a further 1,988 cases were recorded on the last day.
He emphasized that, according to the newspaper “La Tercera”, the positive rate is 8 percent nationwide and 7 percent in the metropolitan region. In a press conference, the Under-Secretary of State for Health Networks, Arturo Zúñiga, made it clear that 1,319 have symptoms, 605 are asymptomatic and 64 are “not notified”.
That brings the total number of cases in the country to 375,044, of which 17,563 are active cases and 347,342 have been recovered, while the deceased is 10,139 after another 62 checked since Sunday.
There are currently 1,280 people in intensive care units, of which 203 are in critical condition. In addition, authorities have highlighted that there are still 601 respirators available across the country.
Currently the laboratories have performed more than 1.8 million tests, 26,012 in the last day.
