Chilean President Sebastián Piñera presented the de-escalation plan Paso a Paso this Sunday to gradually re-activate the country after “five weeks of improvement”.
“These five weeks of improvement allow us to start a new phase today and look to the future with more hope. We have named this phase step by step. This plan, which is careful and prudent, is the recommendations of science, the WHO the advisory board will apply gradually and flexibly, always listen to the communities and carefully collect the reality of each community and region, “said Piñera.
He also highlighted the positive evolution of the availability of respirators, which is “growing”, and thanked the work of the 360,000 health workers, Health Minister Enrique Paris and the Undersecretaries.
The plan consists of five phases: quarantine with reduced mobility; Transition at which the degree of limitation decreases; Preparing to quarantine the general population with the exception of high-risk groups; First opening, where certain low-risk activities are resumed to minimize the crowd; and Advanced opening, which increases activity but maintains self-care.
