Chile exceeds 160,000 people after confirming a record 6,754 coronavirus cases in a single day

The Chilean Ministry of Health reported this Friday that the country exceeded 160,000 cases of coronavirus after confirming another 6,754 infected cases on the last day. It is the third most affected country in Latin America by the pandemic.

Under-Secretary of State for Public Health Arturo Zúñiga has detailed that out of the total number of cases identified in the past 24 hours, 6,217 have symptoms, while another 537 are asymptomatic.

160,846 cases have been registered since the pandemic began, while the number of deaths has increased to 2,870 after a further 222 deaths have occurred. Thus, 1,647 are still admitted to intensive care units, although 1,391 supported breathing and another 372 are in critical condition.

Zúñiga has clarified that the number of people who died did not refer to those who died on the last day and stated that there were 23 deaths on June 10, 92 deaths on June 9, 22 deaths on June 8 and earlier June 8, another 85 deaths.
