At least one child was injured on Wednesday after a projectile crashed into the “green zone” of the Iraqi capital, Baghdad, as confirmed by the Iraqi authorities, who have made it clear that the missile fell near a house.
The Security Media Cell said through its Twitter social network account that the Katyusha projectile from the Alí al Salé area was fired before adding that the security forces mined a second attempt to attack the area.
He said that the Iraqi forces had confiscated another projectile and its shuttle in the Um al Azam area, while stating that the target was the Tayi military camp in the Baghdad area and the target of several attacks. in the past few months.
The “Green Zone” is a ten square kilometer quarter on the banks of the Tigris that is heavily fortified and is home to most foreign diplomatic missions and numerous Iraqi government buildings.
In the past few months, several projectile attacks against Iraqi military bases have been recorded, in which US and international coalition forces are stationed. These events were attributed to pro-government militias supported by Iran.
