The economics and finance ministers of the Eurozone (Eurogroup) will decide on Thursday who will be their president in the next two and a half years. The meeting of business managers of the Nineteen via video conference will start at 3:00 p.m., but the electoral process will be the last item on the agenda. Following these two agenda items, the process will be chosen to elect the person who will be president of this informal body of euro area economics ministers from July 13 to December 2022.
The winning bid must win the support of at least ten of the nineteen participants in a secret ballot, in which the candidate ministers also participate. If none of the three reaches this number on a first vote, the one with the fewest votes is eliminated and a new one is organized.
