The Burkina Faso Army announced this Monday the “neutralization” of 26 suspected terrorists in a series of operations carried out last week in Soum and Loroum provinces in the north of the African country.
In its statement, it explained in detail that between 11 and 19 September it carried out nine flight operations, 36 operations to ensure the security of markets and places of worship, and 240 escort patrols in the context of counter-terrorism.
It was found that on September 11, 11 terrorists were “neutralized” after an ambush against a military unit that was on a reconnaissance mission in Mentao in Soum. This operation also resulted in the seizure of weapons.
The army has also stated that it carried out a “coordinated action” based on “accurate information” on September 13 that resulted in the “neutralization” of 15 suspects in Loroum, according to the Burkinabe news outlet Infowakat.
