Bulgarian protesters block several streets in Sofia in the face of a new anti-government protest

July 29, 2020

Bulgarian protesters blocked several streets in Sofia on Wednesday hours before Wednesday’s big protest against the Boiko Borisov government called for corruption.

The organizers of the protest had threatened to cut streets, bridges and highways with the flow of demonstrators from other Bulgarian cities, not just the capital.

In the meantime, the Prime Minister visited the construction of the South Stream gas pipeline that connects Turkey and Serbia via Bulgaria, and a highway that connects Sofia and Varna on Wednesday.

The protests against Borisov and his cabinet began on July 7 and led to clashes in which a group of demonstrators tried to enter the Prime Minister’s office, although the police prevented it.
