LONDON, Oct. 15 (Reuters / EP) –
The British Police have ordered that protest protests in London of the group of environmental activists Extinction Rebellion, which has demonstrated several times in front of financial institutions and government buildings, be stopped.
“Any meeting linked to the 'Autumn Rising' of Extinction Rebellion must cease its protests within London,” said the British Police, in a statement published late Monday.
Police have reported that they have arrested 1,445 people in the context of protests by this group of environmental activists. Extinction Rebellion has launched civil disobedience campaigns to denounce the risks arising from climate change and the acceleration of the extinction of animal and plant species.
“The ecological and climatic emergency will not disappear and we maintain our resolution to face it,” said Extinction Rebellion, in a response statement following the appeal made public by the British Police. “We put the Government and the authorities to join us to do the same. We cannot do it alone,” they stressed.
