Britain recognizes secret drone murders outside of Iraq and Syria

June 7, 2020

After requesting official information, the UK Department of Defense has confirmed that it is carrying out selective assassination missions using “Reaper” drones that go beyond those previously confirmed in Iraq and Syria.

“The government has to tell where they are doing these drone takeoffs and what the purpose of these operations is,” said a spokesman for the British Drone Wars group, Chris Cole, in statements to The Guardian newspaper.

“Because of their unique capabilities, particularly in targeted killings, and given the apparent drop in the bar on violence, all armed drone operations in the UK should be subject to Parliament approval,” he added.

A Defense Department spokesman has justified that these missions are not being reported “under the guise of Section 26 on Defense and Section 27 on International Freedom of Information Relations”.

“If this information were released, it would provide a better understanding of the population about the reapers’ operations, but could endanger sensitive and protected individuals by giving an advantage to the enemy,” he added.
