Britain adds 160 coronavirus deaths in 24 hours, approaching the barrier of 35,000 deaths

The UK authorities have reported 160 coronavirus deaths in the past 24 hours, a total of 34,796 deaths from the new disease.

According to the bulletin, tests have shown a total of 246,406 positive results since the onset of the epidemic, but it does not specify the number of people who are in the hospital or intensive care unit.

The Department of Health also reported 100,678 tests performed on the day of May 17th, bringing the UK to a total of 2,682,716 tests.

As a major novelty, the British authorities will count the loss of smell and taste as a symptom from Monday to detect a suspected case of coronavirus.
