Brazil crossed the line of 2.9 million people infected with COVID-19 this Thursday after adding more than 53,000 new positive results to its balance, according to the latest data released by the country’s Ministry of Health.
In particular, Brazil has registered 53,139 cases in the last 24 hours, so there are already 2,912,212 infections. In terms of deaths, 98,493 have already been confirmed after 1,237 were verified that day.
In the Brazilian regions, Sao Paulo is still the state hardest hit by the pandemic. 598,670 cases were accumulated, 13,405 of which were discovered in the last 24 hours. This is followed by Bahia with 183,690 – 3,953 new – and Ceará with 183,301 – 1,858 additional -.
The Brazilian health authorities have found that a total of 2,047,660 people in the Latin American country have managed to recover from COVID-19. There are now 741,180 cases still classified as active.
