Brazil has doubled its death toll from COVID-19 in the past 24 hours, again registering more than a thousand deaths this Wednesday, compared to the 500 confirmed the previous day.
According to the Brazilian Ministry of Health, 1,075 people died of COVID-19 this Wednesday, bringing the country to 128,539 deaths from the disease.
In terms of confirmed cases, health officials diagnosed 35,816 this Wednesday, a number also much higher than the 14,000 positive values recorded the day before. With the additional positive results, Brazil has reached 4,197,889 cases of COVID-19.
Sao Paulo remains the Brazilian state hardest hit by the pandemic, accounting for 866,576 cases. This is followed by Bahía with 275,088 and Minas Gerais with 238,515.
Additionally, the Brazilian Ministry of Health has highlighted that the country registers the highest number of people recovered from COVID-19 of the countries that have registries for that number, with 82.3 percent of patients managing to get cured . In total, the country already has 3,453,336 patients.
