Brazil overcomes the barrier of 85,000 coronavirus deaths with more than 2.3 million cases

Brazil has passed the 85,000 coronavirus deaths this Friday, with more than 2.3 million people infected. This is clear from the recent balance sheet that the Department of Health of the Latin American country presented.

Brazilian health authorities have confirmed 1,156 additional deaths in the last 24 hours, bringing the total number of COVID-19 deaths in Brazil to 85,238. With regard to the new positives, 55,891 were registered. There are currently 2,343,366 cases in Brazil.

Sao Paulo is the Brazilian state that accumulates most cases of COVID-19 (463,218 in total) after another 11,211 were registered this Friday. Then there are Ceará with 158,824 – 2,582 new – and Rio de Janeiro with 154,879 – 3,330 new.

The Brazilian Ministry of Health has also highlighted that 1,592,281 people in the country have recovered from the coronavirus, a number that is higher than the number of active cases (655,847).
