The Brazilian Ministry of Health has confirmed 27,075 new cases of coronavirus in the past 24 hours this Saturday, while the country is suffering almost 36,000 deaths from the pandemic.
With this new data offered by the authorities, Brazil adds 672,846 infections and 35,930 deaths, confirming 904 new deaths on Saturday. In addition, a total of 10,209 additional patients have recovered after passing COVID-19.
This week, Brazil outperformed Italy in the number of deaths caused by the corona virus and was the third largest country with the most deaths internationally, behind the United States and the United Kingdom with more than 100,000 and 40,000 deaths, respectively.
Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro has announced a change in the accounting policy for the deceased and infected with the new corona virus, which has led to a drastic decrease in practice. The change has triggered criticism from the opposition, which believes the authorities are trying to manipulate data about the epidemic.
