Brazil overtook Germany in the number of cases of the new corona virus on Tuesday and registered 178,214 infections. It is the seventh country most affected by the pandemic, but very close to France.
According to the Johns Hopkins University report, the contagion cases in Brazil amount to 178,214 and beat Germany – 173,171 – but among the 178,349 that France has.
In terms of fatalities, Brazil is sixth with 12,461, ahead of Belgium (8,761) and behind Spain with 26,920. With this in mind, the Brazilian Ministry of Health confirmed the death of 881 people by Covid-19 in its last part on Tuesday. This is the highest number recorded in just 24 hours.
Brazil is therefore the region most affected by the Covid 19 pandemic in Latin America. Despite this, Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro has spoken out against the introduction of detention measures, as they would unduly damage the country’s economy.
