The Brazilian ministry this Wednesday confirmed 1,085 new deaths from the new coronavirus, in addition to 47,161 infections, meaning there are 117,665 deaths and 3,717,156 decreed the number of cases accumulated since the pandemic began.
On the flip side, the Brazilian authorities have counted 2,908,848 people who have managed to overcome the disease, while another 690,642 remain under treatment and medical supervision.
The epicenter of the pandemic in Brazil is by far the state of Sao Paulo with 776,135 accumulated cases and 29,194 deaths. followed by Rio de Janeiro with 216,675 infections and 15,700 deaths.
The Department of Health has also reported that the death toll has increased in up to thirteen states, with Pará in northern Brazil increasing 80 percent. and Rio de Janeiro, with 62 percent more deaths than the previous week; among the hardest hit.
The increase in deaths in other states in the country such as Acre, Amapá, Tocatins, Goiás, Mato Grosso del Sur, Minas Gerais or Bahia over the last week has sounded the alarm to some local authorities and experts, who are expecting a new delay in action economic opening and easing of quarantine in the regions where the situation is most critical.
