Borrell welcomes the agreement between Maduro and Guaidó and stresses that the dialogue is “fundamental” for Venezuela

The Union’s High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Josep Borrell, welcomed this Wednesday the agreement between the Venezuelan government and the main opposition parties led by Juan Guaidó to fight the coronavirus pandemic in the country and highlighted the importance of the dialogue .

“We welcome the agreement between Nicolás Maduro’s government and interim president Juan Guaidó to manage humanitarian aid against the coronavirus in Venezuela,” he said in a message posted on his Twitter account.

He therefore recalled that the dialogue between the parties was “fundamental” to “advance the political process and support the Venezuelan people”.

His comments follow the so-called G4, the hard core of the Venezuelan opposition, which was formed by Voluntad Popular (VP) and which includes Guaidó and Leopoldo López. Primero Justicia (PJ) by Henrique Capriles and Julio Borges; Democratic Action (AD) and Un Nuevo Tiempo (UNT) will sign an agreement with Health Minister Carlos Alvarado.
