Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro announced on Thursday that he had exercised his veto power in several annexes to the bill, which mandated to wear a mask in public space, and that was done after approval by the Congress of Deputies on 9 June it should be published in the Official Journal this Friday.
The announcement was made during his usual appearance on Thursday on his Facebook page, explaining that some of the vetos were related to the sections that required the mask to be used “in-house”, although Congress always denied any interpretation.
“Today there were several vetoes on a bill that spoke about the mandatory use of masks inside the house,” said Bolsonaro during his speech, in which he was surrounded by six other people and did not stop coughing.
“I vetoed it, right? No one is going to enter your house to punish you. I myself, here, could be fined for not having a mask,” he said.
