Bolivia outperformed China on coronavirus cases on Wednesday by breaking the barrier of 85,000 positives after confirming 1,780 new people were infected in the past 24 hours.
With the new confirmed cases, Bolivia has exceeded 85,141 infected people while China has confirmed 84,528 infections so far. In addition, with the 65 new deaths, the Andean country has reported 3,385 deaths from COVID-19.
La Paz has again concentrated the most new infections, 909, followed by Santa Cruz with 322 and Cochabamba with 182. The department of Santa Cruz is still hardest hit by the pandemic with 36,081 cases. This is followed by La Paz with 19,024 and Cochabamba with 10,213.
In this regard, La Paz Mayor Luis Revilla warned this Wednesday that in the case of city hospitals only medical oxygen is available for “hours” and that if this situation is not resolved, the scales can be fatal.
