Bolivia set a new record for new cases of coronavirus on Friday, confirmed in the last 24 hours as the pandemic in Santa Cruz, the most affected country in the Andes, is accelerating.
The balance offered by the Bolivian health authorities shows that 1,946 additional COVID-19 infections were diagnosed, one day after the Department of Health reported the highest peak since the pandemic started, 1,938 positive in one day. Thus, the total number has increased to 56,102 who are affected by the disease.
Santa Cruz diagnosed 1,245 of the new cases. To date, this Bolivian region has confirmed 28,989 infections worldwide. In the long run, La Paz has verified 233 positive results in the last 24 hours, for which 8,209 have already accumulated.
Bolivian Department of Health data collected by ABI news agency also shows that 65 people died of COVID-19 this Friday, representing a total of 2,049 deaths.
