Bolivia admits to having paid additional costs for obtaining tests for the new corona virus

Bolivia’s provisional health minister, Marcelo Navajas, said on Sunday that additional costs for obtaining detection tests for the new corona virus were paid because “they were difficult to find due to high global demand.”

“There are certain tests that are not yet available and there are others that were difficult to find, so we had to pay premiums to have this equipment,” Navajas admitted in an interview to Bolivian television.

Navajas has detailed that the number of tests is five times higher than the start of the pandemic, and this is illustrated by ensuring that 3,500 tests were performed in April, compared to 934 in March.

“We hope for the same projection next month,” said Navajas, who also spoke about developing new laboratories and training more staff to manage and run the tests.
