Bitmain would have stopped funding the Bitcoin Core developers
Bitmain, one of the world’s largest Bitcoin (BTC) mining producers, has stopped funding some major developers maintaining Bitcoin-related software.
Jonas Schnelli, a key contributor and maintainer of Bitcoin Core, claimed Bitmain stopped supporting it after funding its efforts for more than three years.
In a tweet on December 1st Schnelli said who lost his Bitmain sponsorship along with Joao Barbosa, another Bitcoin Core contributor also known by the nickname “promag” on GitHub.

“Thank you Bitmain for all of the help (despite the disagreements we had),” Schnelli tweeted, asking the crypto community to contribute to his additional Bitcoin Core effort.
Bitmain did not respond to Cointelegraph’s request for comment at press time.
HEX founder Richard Heart then stated that other companies would be willing to fund the Bitcoin Core project if Bitcoin hits new highs.

As #Bitcoin hits new historic highs, a whale is sure to want to fund its development.
Some Reddit users also suggested that Bitmain may have found better ways to spend their money than funding the Bitcoin Core project. “I think it’s a miracle they are still funded by them,” noted one Redditor.
Bitcoin Core is a large open source project that manages and publishes Bitcoin client software. The project describes itself as a direct descendant of the original Bitcoin software client published by Satoshi Nakamoto after he published the Bitcoin white paper in 2008.
