United States President Joe Biden announced this Tuesday as a new target in the country’s vaccination schedule that 70 percent of American adults would be vaccinated on United States Independence Day, July 4th.
As of last week, the United States announced that people fully vaccinated against COVID-19 could stop using the mask outdoors, which Biden cited as an incentive to vaccinate the population. With the new guidelines, 160 million adults are expected to be fully vaccinated in the coming months.
“The new efforts will increase unannounced appointments, emerging clinics and mobile units to make vaccines more readily available to all people in the US,” they sent from the White House.
Likewise, this new goal implies a financial boost for vaccination in neglected areas and an acceleration so that youngsters can be vaccinated before the course starts next fall.
To date, 56 percent of American adults, or 145 million, have received at least one dose, and nearly 41 percent are fully vaccinated, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
