United States President Joe Biden has declared West Virginia a state of disaster due to heavy rains and floods recorded between February 27 and March 4 that will allow federal aid to be released to the state.
In a statement, the White House has indicated that this will enable increased efforts and resources for recovery work, particularly in the hard-hit counties of Canbell, Kanawha, Mingo and Wayne.
The grants include funding for repairs, loans, temporary housing, and a recovery program for businesses and the self-employed. The funds can also be requested from local authorities and various non-governmental organizations that are helping to repair the infrastructure and facilities affected by the storms.
Residents and business people who wish to access this assistance can now request it electronically, as confirmed by the government.
