Biden calls Boric to congratulate him on his triumph and to offer his condolences on the death of the Chilean minor in the United States

The White House reported this Thursday that the President of the United States, Joe Biden, called his Chilean counterpart Gabriel Boric to congratulate him on his victory in the Chilean elections and condolences on the death of Valentina Orellana, a child to pronounce Chilean woman who was shot and killed by a police officer during an operation in the United States.

In a statement, the White House underlined that Biden “welcomes the free and fair elections in Chile as a strong example for the region and the world”.

“The two heads of state and government discussed their joint commitment to social justice, democracy, human rights and inclusive growth,” he added.

Additionally, “Biden has underscored the importance of the United States and Chile working together to promote an ecological and equitable recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic and to address the existential threat posed by climate change.”

The 14-year-old Chilean girl died on December 24 after being hit by a bullet in a police shootout against an alleged attack.
