The Belgian authorities, one of the countries hardest hit by the coronavirus pandemic in Europe, have warned of an increase in cases and hospital stays, although the death toll currently remains stable.
The number of daily infections has increased by 77 percent compared to last week, according to the country’s health ministry. Between September 9 and 15, the government recorded 7,500 positive events, representing 99,649 infections since the pandemic began.
Likewise, the number of patients who need to be hospitalized in the country has increased significantly. There were 24 new entries between September 2 and 8, while that number practically doubled between September 9 and 15 (42).
However, the deaths remain below 3 per day, the Ministry of Health said in a statement.
