The Beijing Winter Olympics Organizing Committee said this Saturday that it had detected 36 COVID-19 infections in people who came to Beijing for the Olympics in the past 24 hours.
Participants in the Olympic Games, which will be held in the Chinese capital from February 4 to 20, must undergo a PCR test upon arrival at the airport. As explained in a statement by the Winter Games Organizing Committee, 1,418 people arrived at the airport last Friday, 29 of whom were found positive, 19 of them by athletes and the rest of the team.
“From 00:00 to 23:59 on January 28, 2022, 1,418 arrivals related to the Olympic Games entered China airport at the airport, including 736 athletes and team officials and 682 other interested parties. After testing the confirmation, 29 confirmed positive cases were reported, 19 of them are from athletes and team officials and 10 of them are from other interested parties.
All employees related to the Olympic Games will be isolated from the outside world to avoid contagion on the eve of the Olympic Games start.
