The Chinese authorities accused the United States of having “hidden motives” in the South China Sea on Monday, saying they were ready to “face them.”

Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Zhao Lijian said during a press conference that the United States is trying to demonstrate its military strength in the region by using aircraft carriers and ships for military exercises.

Therefore, Beijing would have taken similar measures in the South China Sea to address the Washington threat in the region, whose waters are controversial, according to the South China Morning Post.
