The Bangladeshi Ministry of Health announced on Thursday that 41 people had died of COVID-19 on the last day. In the Asian country, 2,238 people have already died from the disease.
The head of the Directorate General for Health Services (DGHS) of Bangladesh, Dr. Nasima Sultana has indicated that the COVID-19 mortality rate in the country is 1.28 percent, according to the local newspaper “The Daily Star”.
On the other hand, 3,360 new cases were added on the last day, increasing the total to 175,494. The overall infection rate is now 19.4 percent, as Sultana explains.
With the most recent figures, Bangladesh is still among the 20 countries that have confirmed the most cases so far, but it is the second largest in the region after India, ranking third worldwide.
