The Australian government plans to lower restrictions on travelers from other countries to ease the return of Australians who have been blocked outside of national territory by the new coronavirus pandemic.
Due to the weekly arrival limit for international travelers set by the authorities in July, more than 24 Australians are currently waiting to return to their country.
Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison announced on Friday that the states and territories that make up Australia agreed to raise the arrival limit for international travelers from the current 6,000 to 8,000 from mid-October.
The “Prime Minister” has said that the ultimate idea is not to limit the number of Australians who can return to the country. “Let’s go to this next level and ultimately we would like these limits to be lifted to return to the situation in early July. That would be my goal,” Morrison said in a press release.
