August 12, 2020

The Victoria Department of Health reported the deaths of 21 people from COVID-19 disease on Wednesday, a new daily record of deaths in Australia since the pandemic began.

Victoria, in the south of the island, is the region hardest hit by the health crisis in a country that has only recorded 352 deaths so far, of which 267 occurred in this area.

Melbourne, the capital of Victoria, home to 4.9 million people, is under a strict six-week quarantine, including a night lock and mandatory use of masks.
