At least three people have died and another 110 were arrested in the Indian city of Bangalore during an escrache taped on Facebook following an offensive comment by a relative of a local politician about Prophet Muhammad.
The incident took place in front of the house of the politician Srinivas Murthy, where violent clashes broke out between a crowd and the police who tried to suppress the Escrache with tear gas. According to the NDTV network, a total of 60 officers are injured.
The protesters set fire to several vehicles and threw blunt objects and stones at the officers when they arrived at the house. The local authorities have imposed a curfew in two parts of the city.
For their part, the security forces have given assurances that the situation is “under control” and detailed that the agents had to fire several warning shots in order for the crowd to disperse.
