At least three dead and dozens injured after a passenger train derailed in the United States

When a passenger train derailed near the town of Joplin in Montana, USA, at least three people died and dozen were injured, local authorities confirmed to several US media.

Amtrak, which owns the vehicle, issued a statement this Saturday confirming the derailment of five cars on one of its trains in the state of Montana around 4:00 p.m. local time.

“There were about 147 passengers and 13 crew members on board with confirmed injuries,” the company wrote in the statement, assuring that it would work with the authorities to safely evacuate the affected passengers.

The Liberty County Sheriff’s Office confirmed to CBS that at least three people were killed in the accident, while the New York Times claims that more than 50 passengers were injured.
