The collapse of a two-story building in the industrial town of Mau, in northern India, has left at least ten dead and several injured, as reported by the local television network NDTV.
Local authorities, who have indicated that the collapse would have occurred due to an explosion, estimate that the death toll could increase.
Several residents of the area have reported that they heard a loud explosion and saw flames coming out of the building shortly before the collapse occurred.
A search and rescue team has moved to the area of the event, in the province of Uttar Pradesh, in an attempt to locate those who have been trapped under the rubble.
Uttar Pradesh State Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has expressed condolences for the deceased and has asked the district authorities to ensure that the families of the victims and the injured receive the necessary help.
