At least seven people were killed in a roadside bomb explosion in Jash Rod district in Nimruz province in southwestern Afghanistan, local authorities reported Thursday.

Provincial government spokesman Bahram Jel told Jaama News Agency that the bomb exploded when a vehicle passed by, killing seven civilians and injuring another.

Jel attributed responsibility for the attack to the Taliban, who, while they usually carry out actions of this kind, have not yet taken responsibility for what happened.
