At least seven people were killed and ten injured in a bomb attack in the Afghan city of Herat in the west of the country, authorities confirmed to the news chain Tolo News.
The explosion occurred in the city’s 12th district and among the dead are women.
A provincial police spokesman, Mahmud Shah Rasuli, has confirmed the blast was due to a bomb placed in a small van, according to comments collected by the DPA agency.
The spokesman did not provide any further details until the investigation was completed.
So far, no group has claimed responsibility for the attack, but in such a situation, the Taliban authorities default to suspecting the Afghan branch of Islamic State, the declared enemy of the former insurgent movement.
