At least seven people, including a young child, have died as a result of storms and heavy rainfall in Greece, the country’s national civil protection agency reported on Sunday.
One woman previously reported missing has been found safe and sound, but there is one other affected person whose whereabouts are unknown.
The floods meant that the hardest hit island Evia had to protect itself on the roofs of its houses, according to the Greek state television ERT.
210,000 people live on the island, all of whom are under flood alarm.
The situation is “dramatic,” said the mayor of Messapia, the island’s hardest hit city, Giorgos Psathas, who has asked for urgent help.
