At least one person has died and eight were injured in a shootout in Washington, DC, in the Columbia Heights neighborhood, as confirmed by the city police.
Washington Police Chief Peter Newsham has confirmed that the authorities are looking for three people to be involved in the shootout, which was apparently planned. Two of the people involved carried large weapons and a pistol, according to the Washington Post newspaper.
Newsham has claimed that the victims are all adults, eight men and one woman, and two of them are in serious condition after the shooting. According to the local authorities, those affected are between 18 and 62 years old.
The chief of police has claimed that the incident appears to have been caused by a “group dispute”.
