At least one dead and 20 wounded in protests against the government in Mali

One person has died and 20 others were injured after hundreds of demonstrators attacked Mali’s parliament headquarters and state television broadcaster’s offices on Friday after an opposition movement called for civil disobedience amid the aggravation of the political crisis that is going through the country.

The victims, some of whom had gunshot wounds, were confirmed to Radio France International (RFI) by an employee of the Gabriel Touré Center, the hospital in downtown Bamako.

Videos posted on social networks show people looting part of the National Assembly furniture after a protest in the area, as well as a fire on one of the exterior facades of the building.
