At least nine killed in an irregular hospice fire near Moscow

At least nine people died this Sunday after the fire in an old-age hospice in the city of Krasnogorsk in the central region of Russia near Moscow, which would be operated irregularly due to a lack of permits.

“Nine people died, nine were ambulances and eight were at their own expense,” said the Krasnogorsk District Press Service, according to the official Russian news agency RIA Novosti.

The same source said that at the time of the fire, 29 people were in the building and that firefighters were able to help eleven of them get out while six of the nine wounded were in intensive care.

Local emergency services suspect that the fire was caused negligently, “according to preliminary information, some of a patient’s personal property may have burned down.”
