At least four dead, including an imam, in an attack on a mosque in western Kabul

At least four people were killed in a bomb explosion in a mosque in Kabul, western capital of Afghanistan, this Friday. The Afghan government has confirmed this to the Tolo News chain.

The explosion occurred specifically at the Sher Shah Suri Mosque in the Karte Char district, District 3 of the Afghan capital. The Afghan Interior Ministry has confirmed that the Imam is one of the deceased.

According to an earlier Ministry of Health report, at least six people were reportedly injured by the detonation due to a homemade explosive device.

So far, no group has taken responsibility for the attack, which is at a very delicate time for the country between the Afghan government and the Taliban trying to make peace, the insurgents’ offensive continuing, and the progression of the coronavirus epidemic. The country has already left more than 23,500 victims and 446 dead.
