At least four people died in an explosion in a chemical plant in the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region in northern China, the Chinese government’s official newspaper, the People’s Daily, reported on Saturday.
Three other people were injured, one of whom is in serious condition, according to the outlet.
The explosion occurred at 11:00 p.m. local time on Friday at a plant belonging to the Zhonggao chemical company. The fire was extinguished at 11:50 p.m., also local time.
The causes of the incident are still unknown and the authorities have started an investigation.
