At least five civilians killed in car bomb explosion in eastern Afghanistan

At least five civilians have died as a result of a car bomb detonating outside a Ministry of Defense facility in Paktia province in eastern Afghanistan, reports Tolo.

Aimal Mohmand, spokesman for the 203 Afghan Army Corps, has confirmed that the explosion has injured 19 people, fourteen of whom are civilians and five agents from the Afghan security forces.

The military spokesman pointed out that the explosive was placed in a Mazda-brand truck that exploded at 8:30 a.m. when it was at the entrance to the Department of Defense facility.

Photos published on social networks show that the building was destroyed by the explosion. So far, no group has taken responsibility for the attack.
