At least 11 people, including three children, died in the Eastern Czech Republic when a block of flats caught fire, fire sources confirmed to the CTK news agency.
The fire broke out in the afternoon on the 11th floor of the thirteen-story prefabricated house in the city of Bohumin with 21,000 inhabitants on the border with Poland.
According to witnesses, several people jumped out the windows to escape the smoke and flames. Firefighters were on site and a rescue helicopter has also arrived to help.
It is not yet clear what caused the fire. A police spokeswoman has reported that the investigation into the cause and circumstances is still ongoing.
