At least 45 people died and another 80 were injured as a result of an overnight flash flood caused by rainfall in Parwan province in northern Afghanistan, authorities said Wednesday.
“So far, 80 wounded have been hospitalized, including five who are in critical condition and have been evacuated to Kabul for treatment,” said the provincial health department head Safiulá Warastra, who specified most of them the victims are women and Children. According to the authorities, the flood occurred at 3:00 a.m. and destroyed around 300 houses in the provincial capital, Charikar.
Afghan President Ashraf Ghani has expressed his regret over what has happened and instructed the Ministry of Disaster Management to provide emergency relief to disaster victims.
