At least 23 civilians killed in an attack on the market in southern Afghanistan

At least 23 civilians have died as a result of a missile attack and a car bomb against a market festival in Helmand province in southern Afghanistan, the regional government has confirmed.

The governor’s office has reported that the attack reached an animal market in the Sangin district and started at around 9:00 a.m. on Monday, Afghan private television broadcaster Tolo said in an urgent message in his newspaper, Twitter

The Jaama news agency has stated that the attacked animal market is in an area under the control of the Taliban militiamen, and has confirmed that at least ten civilians are dead and another fifteen injured.
