HONG KONG, Dec. 28 (EUROPE PRESS) –
At least 14 people have been arrested by undercover police officers and riot forces after a clash at a shopping center in northern Hong Kong, near the border with mainland China.
Clashes began around 10 a.m. in the Landmark North center of Sheung Shui, according to state broadcaster RTHK. Police intervened with batons and pepper spray to deter the crowd before proceeding with the arrests.
This morning has been another episode of the weeks of protests against local authorities and the Chinese government in defense of the judicial independence of the territory.
Police, meanwhile, have accused the “masked troublemakers” of causing material damage and disturbing public order by throwing objects at stores.
