At least 125 were arrested on a new Sunday of the protests against Lukashenko in Belarus

The Belarusian police arrested at least 125 people this Sunday in the first moments of a new opposition demonstration in protest against the re-election of President Alexander Lukashenko.

“By 4:00 p.m. (3:00 p.m. in Spain), 125 citizens were arrested in Minsk, around whom an administrative procedure for participating in unauthorized mass events was initiated,” Interior Ministry spokeswoman Olga Chemodanova said at a press conference from the official Russian news agency Sputnik.

The spokeswoman added that the security forces “have taken the necessary measures to maintain order and public safety” and that “special equipment and means have been used for the intended purpose”.
