AstraZeneca suspends testing of its COVID-19 vaccine

AstraZeneca announced Tuesday that it has decided to stop testing the vaccine it is developing against COVID-19 because of a “potentially unexplained illness” in one of its participants in what the company has termed “routine” ” .

“As part of the ongoing global randomized controlled trials of the Oxford coronavirus vaccine, our standard screening process has suspended vaccination to allow verification of safety data,” the company said in a statement.
